members of specimen are reforming and putting out a new album. (portions recorded in San Francisco) from Metropolis Records website

# Specimen return...!
In the early 80’s Goth Rock was still beginning to take root in the US. Some of the most notable purveyors of this form of music included Bauhaus, Joy Division, The Mission and Fields of the Nephilim. While many bands in the genre faded into obscurity, some remained an influential force. Specimen was one such band. By fusing punk and new wave fashion with Goth Rock music, they created one of the first hybrids in the genre - Glam Goth. Their biggest hit was the song “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” which was played relentlessly in clubs throughout the UK and US. Disbanding in 1985, their influence can still be heard today. Earlier this year, members of Specimen re-united and are currently recording a new album for Metropolis Records.

    YAY!

For thems that weren't able to catch the show, it was an interesting hybrid of various Specimen lineups. Ostensibly, it was 'Azoic' performing a Specimen set list, with a Guest vocalist.

    It was composed of:

Jon Klein (U.K. Lineup) on Guitar
    Kimba (U.S. Lineup) on Bass
Tim Huthert (U.S. Lineup?) on Drums
    T.Bias (of Plastination) on Vocals
Stephan X (of Azoic) on Guitar

T.Bias did a damn fine job capturing the sneering vocals of Ollie (who's been doing Trance music in Australia, I think) and he alludes to Johnny Slut and Ollie Wisdom actually participating in the New album they are recording for Cleopatra records.

I just wish they'd release CD versions of 'Batastrophe' (IMHO, much better mixes than were on Red Velvet Cling etc.) and Ollie's self-produced 'Batcave: Young Limbs, Numb Hymns'.

On that note, I think someone needs to put together a John Punter collection. Damn fine Producer that fellow... :)

Since I'm in an...erm...odd position, I'm going to keep my reply concise:

      >Jon Klein (U.K. Lineup) on Guitar

He was and is one of the core song writers.

      >Kimba (U.S. Lineup) on Bass

Just as a side note, he also went on to join Sharkbait and Poison Jet Guns.

      >Tim Huthert (U.S. Lineup?) on Drums

Tim was actually from the UK lineup. Among the host of well seasoned bands that he was in after Specimen, he was also in Swoon with Stephan X.

      >T.Bias (of Plastination) on Vocals

      >Stephan X (of Azoic) on Guitar

As mentioned above, he was in Swoon (and other projects over the years) with Tim. It may also be worth noting that he was in Sky Cries Marry...

I'm sure you'll hear more outta me in the near future...........
      Cheers!

"Industrial" Sky Cries Mary ala Shakespeare Factory (I saw that video so many time on Bomb Shelter videos, it always struck a chord with me)

or Shoegaze/ambient Sky Cries Mary ala Exit at the Axis

I left Seattle after Exit the Axis and didn't follow them afterwards.

Azoic was a one shot deal of a night as we scrambled for a name at the last minute....

Actual listing of bands I've been involved with are as follows...

        Specimen
        Swoon
        Until December
        Maximillion's Motorcycle Club
        Thrill of the Pull
        Sky Cries Mary
        The Defectors
        Stackula's Unholy Clergy
The World Records (W/ Geri Fenniley of Redd Cross)
        The 10 Inch Gods

...and many more I don't care to mention.

I'll definitely pick up a copy, but to make the above statement completely true...

Who do we have to kill at Warner Brothers to get Batastrophe re-released on CD? :)
